AI for construction › Design & Review
The problem
The drawings do not match, and you find out after you priced the job.
A size, a door tag or a missing detail slips past the estimator. Then it shows up on site as an extra you cannot bill, or a crew waiting for an answer.
The fix ↓
Send one sheet. Get the mismatches back.
For construction companies with 3 to 50 staff. Send one plan sheet and its schedule. We list every size, count and tag that does not match, with a draft RFI for each. Use the 25-point check below right now.
What you get back
7 mismatches on sheet A-201 and its schedules
- Door 104 is on the plan but not in the door schedule.Where: A-201, room 104Draft RFI: Door 104 is on sheet A-201 but not in the door schedule. Please confirm size, rating and hardware.
- Dimensions along grid C add up to 24'-6", the overall says 25'-0".Where: A-201, grid C
- Room 110 has no ceiling finish in the finish schedule.Where: A-601

1. Check your drawings now (optional)
Open your drawings. Mark each line OK or Problem. Each problem gets a draft RFI. Skip any you have not checked. Or go straight to Next and send us a sheet.
The set
1. Every sheet on the drawing list is in the set.
Count the sheets. Check the revision on each sheet matches the list.
2. Every sheet has the same issue stamp.
Look for sheets still marked preliminary, not for construction or for review.
3. Every plan and detail shows its scale.
A sheet printed at another size scales wrong. A bar scale still works.
4. Every detail and section bubble points to a real detail.
Follow each callout. Does that sheet and detail number exist?
5. Grid lines match on the architect's and the structural sheets.
Same grid names, same spacing, same place.
Sizes
6. Dimension strings add up to the overall size.
Add the small dimensions. They should equal the big one.
7. The same size is the same on plan, section and elevation.
Check a few key sizes on every view they show up on.
8. Floor and ceiling heights match everywhere.
Sections, elevations and the ceiling plan should all agree.
9. Doors and windows fit the wall they sit in.
Look for doors tight to a corner, with no room for the frame or hardware.
10. Stair risers, treads and floor height work together.
Count risers x riser height. It should equal the floor to floor height.
Tags and schedules
11. Every door tag on the plan is in the door schedule, and the other way round.
Count the doors on the plans. Count the lines in the schedule.
12. Door ratings and hardware match the wall the door is in.
A door in a fire rated wall needs a rated door, frame and closer.
13. Window tags, sizes and counts match the window schedule.
Check each window type against the schedule and the elevations.
14. Room names and numbers match on the plan, finish schedule and ceiling plan.
A room missing from one list is a room nobody priced.
15. Every room has a floor, base, wall and ceiling finish.
Look for blanks and for words like match existing.
16. Every wall type tag is in the wall type legend, with its rating.
Check the ratings against the code or life safety plan.
Between trades
17. Holes in slabs, beams and walls are shown for ducts, pipes and shafts.
Big ducts and shafts on the mechanical sheets need an opening on structural.
18. Equipment on mechanical and electrical sheets has a place on the architect's sheets.
Rooms, pads, roof curbs and access for every unit.
19. Plumbing fixtures on the architect's plan match the plumbing schedule.
Count sinks, toilets and drains on both.
20. Lights and ceiling items on the ceiling plan match the electrical plan.
Count fixtures by type. Check exit signs and sensors too.
21. The ceiling height leaves room for ducts, pipes and beams above.
Check the deepest beam, not the middle of the room.
Notes and specs
22. Products named on the drawings match the spec.
Look for a maker or model on a sheet that the spec does not list.
23. Notes that say by others, NIC or existing to remain say who supplies and who installs.
Every by others is a gap if nobody owns it.
24. Notes that say verify on site, TBD or match existing are listed.
Each one is a price you cannot pin down yet.
25. Every allowance, alternate and separate price on the bid form is on the drawings or specs.
Match each line on the bid form to a sheet or spec section.

Great company to work with, incredibly detail oriented and easy to work with. We really appreciated how they focused on solving the problem, not just appeasing customer desires. The work was returned ahead of schedule with capabilities on par and beyond what we were expecting. …

Short answers.
What should you check on construction drawings before bidding?
Check that sizes, counts and tags match between the plans, schedules and details. Look for missing details and sheets that are not in the set. The 25-point check on this page walks you through it.
When should a contractor send an RFI?
Send one when the drawings or specs conflict, leave something out, or are not clear enough to price or build. Send it early, before you price or install, with one clear question per RFI.
What is the difference between an RFI and a change order?
An RFI asks a question about the drawings or specs. A change order changes the contract scope, price or time. If the answer to an RFI changes the work, it can lead to a change order.
Who pays for mistakes in construction drawings?
It depends on your contract and where you work. In general the owner is responsible for the design. But if a mismatch was easy to spot and you did not ask, you may carry part of the cost, so raise it with an RFI before you price.
Will my drawing be shared with anyone?
No. It stays on our own server. Only our team can open it. We never share it.
Can AI check construction drawings?
Yes, for the first pass. Our AI Employee reads the full set and drafts the RFIs. Your team checks them and sends them.
