Take the quantity from your takeoff, add your waste %, then round up to full packs. For example, 200 sheets plus 10% is 220.
What waste factor should I use for construction materials?
Your own, from past jobs. It changes with the material, the crew and the layout, so we do not give you a number. The Excel waste log works it out from what you ordered and what you used.
When should construction materials be ordered?
Work back from the date it is needed on site. Take off the supplier's lead time and a few buffer days. That is the last day to order.
What is the difference between a takeoff and an order list?
A takeoff is the quantity the drawings need. An order list adds waste, rounds up to pack sizes and adds the day to order each item.
What happens if you order too much or too little?
Too little stops the crew and can mean paying for a rush delivery. Too much ties up cash and space on site, and returns may cost a restocking fee.
