The problem
No one got hurt this year. That does not mean your sites are safe.
Most owners judge safety by injuries, and injuries come last. When one finally happens you get a WSIB claim, maybe a Ministry of Labour visit, and a worker off the job.

Great company to work with, incredibly detail oriented and easy to work with. We really appreciated how they focused on solving the problem, not just appeasing customer desires. The work was returned ahead of schedule with capabilities on par and beyond what we were expecting. …

Short answers.
What are leading and lagging safety indicators?
Leading indicators are things you count before anyone gets hurt. Think of checks done or near misses reported. Lagging ones count harm after it happens. Think of injuries and lost time claims.
What are some leading indicators in construction?
Toolbox talks held. Site checks done. Hazards fixed on time. Near misses reported. Workers trained. Each one is easy to count. The scorecard on this page covers 12 of them.
Can you predict accidents on a job site?
Not exactly. But you can see the warning signs. The risk goes up when checks slip. It goes up when near miss reports stop or training lapses.
Why should workers report near misses?
A near miss shows a hazard before it hurts someone. Then you can fix it. If none are reported, most often people are not telling you. It does not mean none happen.
Where do the scorecard questions come from?
They come from the Institute for Work and Health idea of leading signs. They also draw on Ontario rules. We wrote the questions and the weights.
Can AI predict safety incidents?
It can help you see the warning signs early. Our AI Employee counts the safety work your team does now. Each week it shows you where it slips. Your team decides what to do about it.
