AI for construction › Design & Review
The problem
The answer is in the spec book. Finding it eats your morning.
Ctrl+F gives you dozens of hits and most are the wrong section. So the crew guesses, the wrong product gets ordered, and the rework comes out of your margin.
The fix ↓
Find the right spec section fast.
For construction companies with 3 to 50 staff. Type a work item. Get the section number where it usually lives and what to look for. Save the ones you need as a list.
What a search looks like
- Fire dampers and access doors.
- Also check Part 1 for submittals and Part 3 for testing.

Highly recommend the team at Veebar Tech! They’ve been a great partner for our web development, coding, and AI needs, taking the time to understand our business and recommend practical solutions. They explain technical concepts clearly, communicate well, and are easy to work with. A knowledgeable, professional, and reliable team—we’re glad to have their support.
Great company to work with, incredibly detail oriented and easy to work with. We really appreciated how they focused on solving the problem, not just appeasing customer desires. The work was returned ahead of schedule with capabilities on par and beyond what we were expecting. …

Short answers.
What is MasterFormat?
It is the standard way to number and organize spec sections in Canada and the US, published by CSI and CSC. Each work item has its own section, like 08 71 00 for door hardware.
How many divisions are in MasterFormat?
The current MasterFormat has 50 divisions, numbered 00 to 49, though some are left empty. Older spec books use the 16 division system, so the numbers may not match.
What are the three parts of a spec section?
Part 1 General has submittals, quality and warranties. Part 2 Products has the materials. Part 3 Execution has how to install and test.
Which wins when the drawings and specs do not match?
It depends on the contract. In Canada, CCDC 2 lists an order of priority that puts the specs above the drawings. Many US contracts treat them as equal, so send an RFI and get the answer in writing.
Will the section number match my spec book?
Most of the time. Some books use older numbers or their own. If the number is not there, search the table of contents for the words.
Can AI search a construction spec book?
Yes. Our AI Employee reads your whole spec book and drawings. You ask in plain words. It answers with the section, page and exact words.
